Beautiful Colorado night: Peach and purple clouds dancing as the sun skirts behind the Rocky Mountains. The hose spurts impure water onto my little shoots of wildflowers and yet I smile, cocking my head at this new birth, new growth. DSII steps out from inside, “Mom, a violent part is coming up.” I smile wider and look into the face of my sun, my moon, all the stars in my sky. “Thanks buddy! Can you pause it?” He steps back inside as I move to turn the water off, if only for a few minutes. I step inside. Ten minutes later, I’m back outside, watering my patch of sunflowers in the side yard sans any rays of sun, hoping to see more growth than I have so far, waiting for DSII to step back outside again.
