At Least They're Committed

As I lay awake at 2:30 a.m. pondering nothing in particular, the word committed popped into my brain and it occurred to me that although it can be used in at least three contexts such as . . . 

• He committed a crime
• She was committed to the asylum
• They are in a committed relationship

. . . ultimately they all mean the same thing.
