“Hey!”
“Hey! How’s it going? Nice of you to stop by.”
“So quiet around here, figured I’d come down.”
“Aw, thanks for thinking of me.”
“Well, it’s you who’ve been thinking of me . . . a lot . . . you’ve been rather chatty.”
Sigh. “Yes. Between my poor Dez pulling scalding mac and cheese onto his arm, D losing key parts to the lawn mower while trying to fix it, his ridiculous job issues, paying $500 a month for DS’s student loans and him with no degree, the dogs fighting this morning, taxes, one of my besties essentially getting demoted and docked $10 grand a year, another needing to find a new place to live within the next two weeks, worrying about someone who has never in the slightest asked me to care and, of course, shingles and sleepless nights, I guess I’ve been talking to you a lot.”
“So, I’m here.”
“So, thank you … soooo any chance you can tell me how this will all turn out?”
“Those are their stories, not yours. I can, however, tell you that you need to have a little faith.”
“I have a little faith.”
“All right, have a little more faith.”
“If I do, what happens then?”
“If I told you, you wouldn’t need faith, would you?” He shrugs, winks, smiles and disappears.
Tease.
