At Least They're Committed

Every email, every post, every Facebook message I answer, I consider using periods only, no exclamation marks, let alone duplicates, no feigned elation or concern for making someone feel good about him or herself. No grins, winks, frowns or tongues. So I stand here and look at what I’ve written and wonder if I do it straight whether people will notice and perceive it as a lack of enthusiasm or sincerity on my part. I should never have started with the smiley faces. It’s a trap, I tell you. A trap!
