Audrey Rose

I brought her home because I was afraid she’d die at work.  Weird. We just watched “Gamers” and I can’t remember what it was I was gonna say. Oh, oh, ….oh yeah.

I brought Audrey Rose II in because she is another work castoff and she’s a bear paw plant and needs a lot of sun and . . . maybe she can get it here and I’ll def take her back to a healthy environment if there is one. We’re moving at work and I thought it was publicized enough that nobody would think much of it. But people noticed.

Gutting the contents on the lower shelf of the coffee table I had to fix up to place Audrey Rose on, I came across some decades old books and documents, stuffed there I don’t know why for who knows when.

So, silly, as I look at my middle school yearbook, I remember Mr. Lubinski, my math teacher railing on me and  I was just a little girl and I was so frightened and he had accused me of copying from the geek in front of me because the geek, who had an unrequited crush on me, had called it out in the middle of class. And Mr. Lubinski was in there saying I was a cheat and I needed to go to the principal’s office and I was terrified and then Rod Cesario said, “No!” and he, who had been sitting behind me, continued, “If you send her to the office, you’ll have to send all of us.” I was dazzled, moved, and embarrassed by the attention. The teacher said, “Who feels this way?” At least 20 children raised their hands and then all was quiet. And I am forever grateful.

My little cast-off, the $200 plant, Audrey Rose, is doing well. Thank you!
