Making the most of the day! The sunshine is beautiful! The hour-long walk felt laborious, but good. Woke up early and spent more than an hour making waffles for 13-year-olds. They ate four apiece, and these are not small waffles! Loved that DSII said proudly to his friends, “My mom is making is waffles! She has a waffle iron!” The story behind that is that, well, I’ve always wanted one and I finally got one for my birthday last year. And the other story is, OK, sad, is that when D was a little boy he got it in his head that he was going to get his mom a waffle iron for her birthday cuz it was the coolest gift ever! So, he told her he knew what he was going to get her and she said, “Yeah, it’s probably a stupid waffle iron so I can make waffles for you all the time.” He was crushed! So, then there’s me, clapping my hands over my new waffle iron and, with great joy, feeding and feeding and feeding these 13-year-olds (and DS, too) and loving how much they are enjoying them.
No I’m not looking forward to changing the clocks tonight. We’ve agreed at work that this transition, where we’re essentially getting jipped an hour of sleep, is grueling. Will enjoy sitting on the patio with friends and family, sipping wine playing with the dogs ’til after dark.
Time to get a few groceries and go visit a couple of our favorite friends. Should be editing some more, should start proofing the magazine, should start working on my cover letter for yet another promising job option, but, hey, it’s Saturday and it’s a beautiful day.
