All right already. Yes, I know. Enough with the weird quotes from X Files and Supernatural and bestowing wrath upon the evils of all mankind and that stuff. I just get all riled up when angels and God and all those guys enter into the equation for some strange reason.
The thing is, I’m really not a misanthrope and other than my rantings on here and on Twitter, I’m quite normal and have quite frankly had a smashing holiday season!
It started, of course, with my family’s traditional Early Christmas in Grand Junction. Missing were Jen and Nick and Stef and Matt, but we celebrated them anyway. The house was definitely abuzz and aglow and all that merriment.
I reintroduced Grandpa Grandpa by saying, “I ran into an old relative and asked if he’d like to join us. I hope it’s OK?” Then I whipped him out

of a Christmas bag and my parents said, “Wow” and “Oh my!” And my sister started to cry and said, “Oh, Cathy, oh Cathy! You found him!” It was awesome. I rock.
Secret Santa was great. I finally got my camo jammies! Yay!!! Cozy!!! Jen got them for me . . . Nick found them!!! 🙂
But I have to say the highlight had to be DSII’s gift to Grandma. My folks started laughing when they pulled out the shirt and saw the photo of Baddass Dad, circa 30 years ago. Then they laughed more when they saw the wording on top that proudly said, “I’m married to a Scot!” But, it being folded over, they did not see the words on the bottom of the photo. So, when pointed them out to them, and they saw the “(Pray for me!)” they lost it . . . hope I can get a copy of the pic up here. DSII thought of that himself! So proud of him! It was great for him! 🙂
Fast forward past the precarious blowout on Interstate 70 in Glenwood Canyon that left my family huddled on the right side of the road, no more than 3 feet of shoulder, on a curve so tight nobody could see us until they were right on us, us knowing that any second just a tap by a car taking the curve a little too wide could send the minivan into the icy Colorado River 70 feet below . . . Another family adventure!

Family Christmas was delightful. It started with The Ref and Die Hard, two of my fav feel-good movies on Christmas Eve. Bugaboo came over early, Madison caught up about 3 on The Day. DS had to work until 3:30 so we had Santa presents in the a.m., stockings when he got home, then our own Secret Santa at about 7 . . . followed by Elf and Fred Claus.
French toast, bacon, sausage and mimosas in the morning; prime rib, horseradish, our special mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, rolls, greens and wine in the p.m. Yum.
Santa got me Lester, the puppet! He completes my set! Charlie McCarthy, Howdy Doody and now Lester!

He’s sitting on my bed (he scares Bugaboo) and will soon join the others on the hope chest. I also got some X Files DVDs!!! It’s been years since I got to see X Files and DSII is already hooked! I keep telling him to pay close attention to the scripting and balance of dialog. Anyway, must stop getting all philosophical and such when I watch those and Supernatural. Oh, there’s one goal for 2010 methinks! I mean, at least X Files is a good show, Supernatural is stupid and just fun to watch.
So there you have it. The boys went sledding yesterday, D and I played Scrabble (I won!) and then stopped in for a drink with our favorite bar tender.
Tomorrow I’m heading for a “Late Christmas” up at Ellen’s in Conifer. Good times, good times! OK, and she’s the ONLY, I repeat, ONLY person on the face of this Earth that could possibly get me to watch Mama Mia. Sigh. 😉 Seriously? Can’t speak for the movie, but we WILL have an awesome time!!!! 🙂
Merry Christmas to my grandchildren I might never meet! You have a wonderful family and I am grateful to all of you and love you all passionately — no matter where I’m at when you read this!
