That’s my favorite word. It’s kind of dark and mysterious and when Colleen, Christine and I used it as a pun in our Halloween party invitations a few years back nobody knew what we meant. (It said “The Three Sister’s of the Night invite you to a Halloween exsanguination . . . err, celebration.”) This of course was in reference to the female vampires at the castle in Dracula and the “act of draining blood; make bloodless.” You know, like maybe we were really setting them up to kill them or make them vampires or something. Aw, c’mon! It was clever!!!! However, because my esteemed and highly educated colleagues in journalism had no clue whatsoever as to what we were referring to, I was left feeling both frustrated and yet strangely superior. Heh.
